Silver Jewellery Care & Maintenance
Latelita jewellery is crafted from high-quality 925 sterling silver and micron-gold-plated sterling silver. With proper care, your jewellery can be enjoyed for many years.
A simple guideline to follow worldwide:
Put your jewellery on last when getting ready and remove it first at the end of the day.
Everyday Care
Sterling silver naturally reacts with air, humidity, and moisture, which can cause tarnishing over time. However all Latelita pieces come with a very high quality plating that will protect it from tarnishing for many years to come.
To help maintain your jewellery:

Gently polish with a silver polishing cloth on a regular basis

Store with anti-tarnish strips or paper where possible

Avoid direct contact with water, perfume, lotions, cosmetics, and hairspray
Always remove jewellery before:

Showering or bathing
-
Swimming (including pools, sea, and hot springs)

Using saunas or steam rooms
-
Exercising or engaging in sports
Sweat, heat, humidity, and air exposure are enemies of plated jewellery.
Storage (Important in All Climates)
When not wearing your jewellery:

Store it in a small airtight or zip-lock bag (and/or inside the presentation box)

Keep items stored separately to avoid scratching
Jewellery stored for long periods inside presentation boxes may tarnish due to trapped moisture, especially in humid or warm climates.
For best results:

Store jewellery in a tarnish-resistant pouch

Add silica gel packets or anti-tarnish strips to absorb moisture
Cleaning Your Jewellery
A safe and gentle cleaning method:

Mix a small amount of mild liquid soap with lukewarm water

Use a soft brush (a toothbrush works well)

If very dirty, soak for up to 10 minutes

Rinse with clean water and pat dry with a soft cloth
Silver Polishing Liquids & Dips

Silver polishing liquids are not recommended
-
Mild silver dips may be used carefully on plain silver items

Rinse thoroughly after use β any residue left on chains or clasps may damage the jewellery over time
β οΈ Avoid silver dips on jewellery with oxidised or darkened details, as they may remove the design finish.
Oxidised Sterling Silver
Some Latelita designs feature intentional oxidised (darkened) details.
To preserve this finish:

Avoid aggressive polishing

Do not use silver dips, polishing liquids, or ultrasonic cleaners
Over time, the oxidised finish may fade naturally with wear. This is not a defect and is considered normal wear. A professional jeweller can re-apply the oxidised finish if desired.
Gold-Plated Jewellery
Gold-plated jewellery will preserve its shine a life time as long as you follow these points:

Gently wipe with a soft cloth after wear

Do not polish aggressively

Avoid abrasive surfaces and chemicals

Do not use silver polish or ultrasonic cleaning
Gold plating may gradually wear over time. This is consideredΒ normal wear and tear, not a manufacturing fault.
Re-plating can be carried out by a professional jeweller. Latelita also offers a lifetime re-plating service (fees vary by item).

Warranty
All Latelita jewellery comes with a 6-month warranty covering manufacturing defects. These typically appear within the first few wears and such items will be fixed or replaced free of charge. (returns postage fees will be waived without any hesitation)
Warranty does not cover:

Loss or accidental damage

Normal wear and tear (scratches, pulled chains or bent clasps, dropped stones)

Damage caused by improper use or storage

Items purchased through third-party retailers (please contact the retailer directly)
Repairs
We offer a repair service for eligible items for a service fee.

Repairs are available for items currently sold on our website

Discontinued items are excluded

If repair is not possible, a replacement may be offered at our discretion
